We will be sharing quick tips and tricks to check on the structural shop drawings once in every two weeks which is very difficult to find on the internet in the summarized manners. Our aim is to help to help both contractor and consultant sides to get the quick approval of the shop drawings.
➡ Shop Drawings are the drawings created by contractor based on the design drawings shortly before the construction work starts.
➡ Structural Shop Drawings show all the
detailed information of the cover distance, lap splices of reinforcement,
development length, bent length, number of rebars, couplers, rebar arrangement
and other structural system of the building.
➡ The main purpose of preparing shop
drawings is to confirm if design is feasible on ground or not. It is also phase
of design review for the final confirmation.
➡ Generally, Shop drawings are finalized 1
month before the actual construction starts of each activity. Everything
workers does in the field can be visualized in the shop drawings.
➡ Openings in the structural elements like
shear walls, foundation girders, floor slabs can be confirmed and helps to
prepare the coordination drawings for MEP system and other Building System.
➡ General rules of thumbs considered in the
design phase shall be modified based on the unique circumstances visualized in
the shop drawings.
➡ Construction flow can be understood and schedule can be made. Large working sites can be subdivided from the zoning in the shop drawings.
